Introduction
SDI (Serial Digital Interface) has been used in TV
broadcasting or other video related industries for a
long time. It is overseen by the Society of Motion Picture
and Television Engineers (SMPTE) as SMPTE 259M.

It's an extremely robust signal and can be used to transmit
digital video data for a very long distance with an
extremely low error rate.

The SDI Modification DIY Kits convert the decompressed
MPEG-2 data directly from the MPEG-2 decoder inside
a DVD player or set-top-box and output SDI through the
finest Canare connectors. This signal is transmitted
through a BNC cable and captured by an SDI capture card
or SDI-equipped scaler.

With modern digital displays, it now means that you
can have a pure digital signal path right from source
to screen.
SDI can transmit PAL and NTSC 480i and 576i signals
and is perfect for all Standard Definition sources.
